Hello, hello my friends, and welcome to the first episode of T B D, which stands for to Be Determined and also will likely end up standing for a lot of other things too as we get this conversation going. I am so grateful that you are here. If you are new to me, I am Megan Hale. I’m a. Business strategist and thought partner for amazing coaches, consultants, helpers, and healers who are building their body of work in the world with a sustainable business that goes with it.
And if you have been a longtime listener of any of my prior podcasts, either the Enoughness Revolution or Wild & Holy Radio, I feel like we need a moment, because it has been a hot minute since you and I have been together. Way and even just sitting down to record this episode for T B D. So many memories have just flooded back of prior episodes.
I’ve recorded prior conversations we’ve had. So if that is you, I’m envisioning you in this room right here, right now. I heart you so big for joining me for this next conversation. So, As you could imagine, um, T B D, the topic of T B D is actually the reason this show even exists because I was not planning on starting a podcast under this name
In fact, this podcast kind of started as a joke as I was navigating some pretty big losses in my business just a few weeks ago. I had a lot of big plans, which I’ll break down for you in a future episode. That Kind of got the red light and in this moment I was kind of like, what now? What now? And had a full week where I just cried my eyes out.
I didn’t know which way was up. I started questioning everything as we do. And I made a joke on Facebook that said, Thinking about starting a podcast called TB D because this is what the season of my business feels like. And after sitting with it for a couple of days, I was like, you know, It’s not a bad idea.
I mean, all of us go through times that are to be determined whether in life or in business what would happen if we just had a conversation talking about it. So here we are, my friends. . The really exciting thing about this show is one. I don’t know where this is gonna go. I don’t know if this show will continue to be named T B D forever and ever.
Maybe this is just a placeholder until this new brand name that I am waiting on comes through. Or maybe this is just a thing forever. I have no idea. I am really leaning into the freedom that exists with not having the answers, not knowing how it’s all gonna go. And how great is that? Because none of us know how anything is gonna go ever anyway.
Right? So I feel like this is a refreshing start. The other thing that I will share, coming to this conversation, I’ve been reflecting on. How many times we really are seeing conversations after somebody has gone through a hard season, right? We’re usually meeting that person or gaining that wisdom when they’ve already made it to the other side.
There are not as many opportunities for us to really have conversation and dialogue and witness when somebody’s actually in the messy middle of it, and that’s exactly what this podcast is. Not waiting till we get to the other side, but really creating a container for this conversation to happen right here, right now, as I sort out my next steps of what does this look like with these roadblocks in my way, so I know I’m not going down that path, right?
So what is the new path that is going to emerge? And anytime we have a really big obstacle put in our way, it tends to have a domino effect, right? Where we start to realize that this no-go is actually connected to a lot of other things.
And so anytime we start to take pause and we start to witness, okay, what does this mean for all of the other things that are connected to it? What does it mean to things that maybe I didn’t even realize were connected to it. So it can really start to unzip a lot of things and ask you to do some really.
Reflection, and that’s kind of what I’m inviting you into with me. So my whole thought with this podcast is that this is either gonna be like the best, most brilliant thing I’ve ever done, , or it’s gonna be the complete opposite and we’ll just see how it goes.
But I am trusting me and I’m trusting you that these conversations are needed, and maybe it’s really around having a new paradigm for what leadership looks like, what success looks like. That really allowing ourselves to be seen in the process of something new, becoming and not really having it all figured out, yet not having it packaged perfectly yet.
Um, that there’s gonna be a lot of wisdom and riches to gain from that. So that’s how I am starting this whole conversation my friends. There are a lot of big shifts underway in my business. Some that still feel. Really, really sad. Really sad. It feels like there are parts of my business that I’m having to slowly divorce and I think for any of us who have been in business for a number of years, and like we know how much time and energy and soul goes into coming up with language that really defines what you do and what you’re inviting your people into.
And like all of those things. When something like that starts to slip away or even gets taken away, that’s a lot to process and there’s so much grief that comes up with that. And that is definitely one of the things that I am navigating right now.
So, T B D is going to be a blend of processing the messy middle because that’s where we’re at, right? But it’s also gonna be a blend of love notes to let you know that you’re not alone in case you’re going through a hard spot in your business. You’re not the only person that has been there will be there is there right now.
And if there’s anything that I know I am here to do in this world, it’s to make sure that people know that they are not alone. They’re not alone in their self-doubt, they’re not alone in their fear when they are faced with uncertainty like I am right here beside you. Okay. So that’s definitely one part of this show.
The second is I’m sure we will be exploring strategies for how to actually create sustainable growth since this is very integral to what I do, especially through the lens of sustainable cash flow that can really support you and your dreams and your family, and all of those beautiful things. And third, you will also be hearing from guests.
Who are also navigating their own moments of to be determined, what it feels like for them, how they’re coping, how they’re dealing, and some of the strategies that they’re using to really hold exquisite space for themselves in those moments that feel very uncertain. One thing that I know to be true after being in business for eight years is that we always know what we need to know when we need to know it.
We cannot force clarity no matter how hard we try. We have to work on just our receptivity and our presence and our faith and our trust that the next thing is on its way. And trust me, trust me, there are prior episodes, where I talk about these processes and just all the other four-letter words that come up right alongside them, because those are not easy processes for us as humans to have faith and to trust and to be present in all of those things but I also wanna give more voice too. There are so many moments along this journey of building your body of work and figuring out your offer suite and figuring out your pricepoints and figuring out your marketing and your messaging and your strategy and all of these things. When we’re really just having to take the next step and the next step and the next step until a broader picture comes into view. So my hope is with my interviews, we really get a behind-the-scenes look of some very vulnerable shares of what it’s like to have to lead through that. , right, of entrepreneurs who are leading communities as they are figuring out their next steps when they’re having to make difficult pivots and how they’re navigating some of those edges, like this is real entrepreneurship, my friends.
There is not a whole lot about it. That’s easy. It does not mean that ease cannot be part of the plan, but Ease and Easy are two wildly different things. So I am so excited to really have a container for us to gather in this. And for us to talk about the nitty gritty, messy middle that comes when we are out here building our dreams and making our unique impact in the world.
So I cannot wait to dive deeper into so many juicy topics and the upcoming episodes. But for right here, right now, I just wanna say thank you. Thank you for being here, for tuning in, and also just showing me the support that I have received already. for launching a podcast called TBD because shit, y’all, this is where we’re at. This is where we’re at, and sometimes. Lots of times we are simply doing the best we can with what we have, with where we are. And my goodness, let this podcast be a beacon for them.
So, I’m so excited for all of the beautiful conversations that are yet to be had as we take this journey together. And until next time.
I am wishing you the courage to keep going even when things feel uncertain. Knowing that the next right step is always on its way. See you soon.
